Garden Planning

Garden Planning
Just another Violet in the garden.

This will be my first year actually planning out a garden.

Last year, I successfully grew cherry tomatoes, tomatillos, and jalapeños in a mix of random pots and a raised bed/planter. However, my beefsteak tomato plant was a complete failure—every tomato it produced had blossom-end rot.

Now that we’re in our forever home, I can finally have a true garden of my own.

I've been following a lot of the foundational principles from Square Foot Gardening. If you haven't looked into this method, I highly recommend the book by Mel Bartholomew. Right now, it’s available on Kindle Unlimited, but you can also buy it through my affiliate link: https://amzn.to/4jA8sD4.

I've also been watching a ton of videos by Epic Gardening and Red Leaf Ranch. Both channels have incredibly informative content on YouTube and a strong presence on other social media platforms.

The most time-consuming part so far has been deciding what to plant and where to plant everything within my raised beds. I’ve been using Procreate and ChatGPT to create plans and building out some spreadsheets in Google Sheets to stay organized. Of course, having severe ADHD probably means my spreadsheet updates will be sporadic at best. I’m terrible at keeping things like that updated—but I keep trying, hoping one day it’ll stick.

Where the garden is going.
